Indigenous and Traditional Midwifery: Self-Determination, Autonomy, and Indigenous Peoples’ Health Systems

July 15 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Indigenous and traditional midwifery is a vital expression of Indigenous Peoples’ self-determination, rooted in ancestral knowledge, territories, and Indigenous health systems. We invite Indigenous leaders, representatives from the United Nations and government agencies, funders, and allies attending EMRIP to join this conversation on protecting and strengthening Indigenous midwifery as an autonomous ancestral practice. Together, we will explore how Indigenous knowledge systems contribute to collective well-being and discuss pathways to advance the recognition and protection of Indigenous Peoples’ rights and health systems.

Location: Room V, Building A, Palais des Nations, Geneva
