Philanthropy Ecosystems
Indigenous Philanthropy Institute
The Indigenous Philanthropy Institute is a dynamic learning space designed to educate funders on strengthening and adopting funding strategies that uphold the rights and values of Indigenous Peoples. Centered on cultivating value-based partnerships and effectively resourcing Indigenous communities, the institute empowers them to address opportunities and challenges with resilience. Through this initiative, IFIP is dedicated to creating a rich and inclusive learning environment for funders and Indigenous leaders, driving meaningful change and collaboration in philanthropy.
Why It Matters
In a world where Indigenous Peoples' rights and values are often overlooked, the Indigenous Philanthropy Institute emerges as a beacon of change. The Institute challenges the status quo and advocates equity in philanthropy by educating funders on the importance of honoring Indigenous perspectives in funding strategies. Through value-based partnerships and effective resourcing of Indigenous communities, the institute addresses immediate challenges and cultivates long-term empowerment.
What we are doing
Learning, resource-building, and collaboration form the foundation of IFIP's mission to transform philanthropy into a more inclusive space. As a philanthropic leader, we prioritize co-learning with our members and philanthropy practitioners. The Indigenous Philanthropy Institute is designed as a dynamic learning hub, where informal and formal knowledge-sharing and experiential learning with and among peers leads to better funding practices.
