Call for Scholarship Applications for Indigenous Leaders to attend the IFIP Global Conference 2027
Are you an Indigenous leader, community member, or changemaker actively contributing to your community? This scholarship opportunity is for you.
The IFIP Global Conference 2027 scholarship aims to facilitate and support Indigenous participants to attend the IFIP Global Conference 2027, fostering the sharing of knowledge, experiences, perspectives, and solutions among Indigenous communities and leaders from around the world.

Who Can Apply
The scholarship is open to applicants from Asia and the Pacific, Africa and Latin America who:
- Identify as Indigenous and are actively engaged in their community, organization, or an Indigenous-led initiative. Priority will be given to Indigenous youth and Indigenous Persons with Disabilities.
- Are interested in or actively working on issues related to Indigenous leadership, community development, philanthropy, funding, Indigenous rights, climate, biodiversity, Indigenous knowledge, Indigenous territories, gender equality, disability inclusion, youth leadership, or related areas.
- Demonstrate a commitment to contributing to their communities and advancing Indigenous-led solutions.
- Can participate in the full IFIP Global Conference from 28-30 April 2027.
- Can travel internationally, have a valid passport, and meet the relevant visa and entry requirements for Australia. For more details, click HERE.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be reviewed and selected based on the following criteria:
- Clear and direct alignment with the conference themes, including Indigenous philanthropy, and transformative approaches to resourcing Indigenous communities, as well as thoughtful goals for what the applicant hopes to learn and contribute.
- Demonstrated active involvement in an Indigenous community, organization, network, or Indigenous-led initiative, and evidence of meaningful contributions.
- A clear vision for how the knowledge, connections, and insights gained from the conference will be shared and applied within the applicant's community, organization, or home region.
- Consideration will be given to ensuring diverse representation across regions.
- Can provide endorsement from their community, organization, or affiliated network.
What the Scholarship Covers
The scholarship supports participation for the full conference period, with participants arriving in Darwin on April 27, 2027, and departing on May 1, 2027. Scholarship is limited to the following:
- Conference registration fee.
- Hotel accommodation for the conference dates (27-30 April 2027).
- Roundtrip economy airfare from the participant's nearest international airport to Darwin, Australia.
- Airport transfers and local transportation, both in the home country and in Australia.
- Australia Visa fee, if applicable.
- Meals provided during the conference, and a food allowance for travel days. IFIP per diem rates are based on the U.S. standards, see HERE.
- Travel/health insurance.
Scholarship holders will be expected to:
- Attend and actively participate in the IFIP Global Conference from 28-30 April 2027.
- Engage with participants throughout the conference.
- Contribute their perspectives, experiences, knowledge, and ideas to discussions and exchanges.
- Participate actively in sessions and networking opportunities relevant to their areas of interest and expertise.
- Share knowledge and connections gained through the conference with their communities and/or organizations after returning home.
- Submit a post-conference report reflecting on their experience, key learnings, connections, and how they intend to apply or share what they gained from the conference.
- The selected Indigenous Youth will be invited to participate in the 3rd Global Indigenous Youth Dialogue on 28 April 2027, which will provide a dedicated space for Indigenous youth to connect, share priorities, strengthen leadership, and contribute to shaping solutions for the future.
*Note: IFIP has a limited number of scholarships to award. The final number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the success of our fundraising towards this purpose.
